The mission of Singapore Paranormal Investigators (SPI) is in fourfold:

[4] In return, we contribute our knowledge and research results cultivated through SPI to those in need in our community...

Our goal is to gather and collect data that will lead to a better understanding of all paranormal instances such as ghosts and haunting.  In the process of pursuing that goal, we also wish to aid any individuals having problems dealing with or understanding a situation.  We hope to do this by educating them as to the true nature of their situation and giving them the information and understanding to create a livable resolution for the person and the spirit.  We are open minded to all sensible theories and methods as this is still not an exact science.  Everyone in the field of supernatural research learns as they go.  Hopefully, in the end, we will collect the necessary proof and field-tested theories that are vital to bringing the subject of paranormal research into the mainstream.

The aim of this website is to inform the public about the serious study of the paranormal.
 

Towards our mission, we as the SPI members are working hard to realize the following objectives:

[1] To continuously gather scientific data by means of experimentations and conducting investigations to better understand paranormal phenomena.
[2] To continue researching other studies to gain a broad perspective on possible theories and innovative data collection techniques.
[3] To continue to uphold the integrity which SPI has attained by means of giving accurate information, a genuine interest to helping those in need.
 

We have come a long way ...

SPI was first established in June 2001 by Dr. Kenny Fong to conduct serious study, research and investigation into all types of paranormal phenomena.  We had our old office in International Plaza, Singapore.  Kenny who is an ex-professor from NTU with in-depth experience in scientific research, plus other members who are knowledgeable in many paranormal cases especially the local ones, have made SPI arising fast as a well-known legend in Singapore.

During that time, media exposures have helped SPI ever popular to the public due to its unique attitudes in the serious research towards paranormal.  Unfortunately, some ex-members left the team and retired.  Furthermore the economy downturn hit hard in Singapore. The old SPI was then forced to shut down by Kenny for several months. But our passion in paranormal research never died.

Today, SPI is resurrected with great efforts by its original founders and some capable new elite members. The website opens refreshingly again on the special day of National Day of Singapore, 9 August 2002, celebrating both 37-years of our nation and 1 year anniversary of SPI.  By following the same SPI mission, our new team has become only better than ever, with both professional and ethical practices enforced.  Each member contributes to his best according to his specialty with a sincere heart and a great passion on paranormal research.
 

Open minded and righteous ...
 

The contents in this website are the work of open minded people committed to the facts.  We are open to the notion that some things are not explainable by current science.  We investigate this "paranormal phenomenon" for our own interest, as well as to assist those in need, and document our findings where feasible in a scientific manner for others to examine.  We do not pretend to understand or explain things that nobody understands.  We have, however, experienced things which lead us to believe that there is more going on around us than that which is obvious and apparent in everyday life.

Where many traditional skeptics Leave an unexplained occurrence, we begin research.  With an open mind, our team makes extensive use of state-of-the-art photographic, video and sound recording equipment & techniques, and more to undertake this study.  SPI is at the forefront of computer aided analysis of sound and images.  Unlike many who only collect video and still pictures in an attempt to provide "proof", SPI does not stop there.  We integrate computer aided analysis, monitor and record changes in atmospheric response, plus scan and log a number of other mediums just to name a few.  We believe measures like these are what truly separate us in our approach to paranormal research.

Furthermore, we also research the history of any building or area that was under investigation, and upon completion of the project we would then be able to relate our findings, between historical and paranormal.  We Do Not favor any particular outcome.  We have found many experiences to have a natural explanation to them.  By separating the "explained" and the "un-explained", we can better study the anomaly.

Yet some people refuse to believe in the existence of paranormal activity.  Some people do believe implicitly in the paranormal without personal experience.  All we can do is relay to you what we are able to see, hear, measure and feel firsthand.  We will provide proof when available, although we can not conduct experiments per se because of the inability to control the paranormal.  We feel that it is our scientific approach and commitment to the facts that makes this site worthy of your attention.
 

Non-commercial, religious-free, politics-free and scientific oriented ...
 

SPI does not conduct exorcisms, or any form of occult magic.  We seek only to push forward the boundaries of man's understanding of the paranormal.  All results of our investigations are made available for public and peer inspection and we do not make exaggerated claims that cannot be substantiated.

With our mission described above, we conduct investigations and present results in as consistently scientific a manner as possible, an original method unparallel to that of others who try to imitate us.  In most cases, we don't jump into any concrete conclusion but leave room for our users to brainstorm about.  We invite people (you) to share a view with us.  Whether you are a believer or a skeptic, we have provided our findings so that you may draw your own conclusions based on our research.

Using scientific methods, we have catalogued many instances of contact with beings whom we believe are a part of the spirit world.  SPI  encourages skepticism.  We take any "evidence" we think may be of paranormal origin, and we make every attempt to discredit it.   As a result, the evidences presented on this Web site are both the data that we cannot explain as natural occurrences, and both we could have explained.  We let you be the judge.

Are you encouraging superstition while promoting ghosts and spirits?
No, in fact, it is the other way round.  Superstition means blindly believe without understanding the ins and outs.  Here, as an educational organization that applies scientific means to study paranormal, we are encouraging individuals to have an open and inquiry mind.  We encourage personal development for ourselves as well as our audiences to brash up our senses in finding out the truths behind paranormal instances with a sorbet mind.

Does SPI only study ghosts and nothing else?
Our experience is, for the most part, with investigating spirit activity.  However, since organizing our team, we have gained members who have varied interests in the paranormal, such as ESP and healing through prayers (spiritual cleansing).  Some members are in contact with their spirit guides and angels.  We are pleased to have such interests develop, and we look forward to sharing our knowledge with each other.  We are in the beginning stages to develop a program where members will further develop our abilities and awareness in these areas.  We welcome people who have experience in these areas of research to join us as members.

So, SPI, are you Ghostbusters, or not?
Surely not.  As our name indicates, we are peaceful investigators who do research and in search of the truth behind paranormal.  Quite often when we step in too near to the spiritual realm of unknown, it is our safe guard to keep a humble heart, open-mind and friendly ground-hold.  Though we would take strictly the known self-defense precautions, we never do any intentional assault or busting on ghosts.  E.g. just like diving, a ground rule is to stay harmony with the nature when you are 100ft deep down in the darkness of a sea.  In most cases, we believe ghosts are people with the body.  Should we have to deal with some hostile demons or people approach us with an evil ordeal for help, we refer the case to exorcists.

How much does it cost me if I call upon for an investigation?
