Dairy Farm Road and its surrounding
got its name from the activities that area used to have many
years ago. There used to be a real dairy farm there until a
tobacco company leased the estate for its plantation. I
remembered during my childhood days when my father brought our
family to an old bungalow there over the weekends or during
school holidays. It was really fun then, having the whole estate
which was a tobacco plantation to ourselves. There were fruit
trees in abundance; durians, rambutans, mangoesteen and much
more that surrounds the old bungalow.
You see, my father was an
employee of a tobacco company that managed the area back
then. You could walk for miles around the tobacco plantation
and that was part of my father's job as a supervisor there.
The bungalow was huge and it has a tennis court to its
front. Its was really so serene however, with occasional
disturbance from the nearby quarry that conducted
granite-blasting.
The nursery office buildings
along Dairy Farm Road of today if my memory is right could
be the same buildings of yesteryears that was used as office
and tobacco drying sheds. If you venture around about 400
metres into the bushes behind the Dairy Farm Condominium of
today you could perhaps still get to see remains of that old
bungalow, to be exact remains of its garage. The last time I
explore into that area a couple of years ago, I noticed the
garage remains were filled with plenty of idols and such.
The Dairy Farm House picture
that you showed might be that of the barn that is situated
along the same side as the old bungalow remains. Unlike the
pictured house, the old bungalow remains is not visible from
along the road. I don't know of any mystery but that place
has its equal share of scary stories. But then again, they
are just stories. some members of my family and I felt
something when we put up at the bungalow over the weekends
then, but it may just be our imagination because having the
whole estate that has so many big trees and plants around to
ourselves during the night may have its effect on our
imagination. We've experienced it during the mid 70's. For
us to know and for you to find out.
But if you intend to venture the
area, do take care. Check for the land ownership because we
don't want to be charged for trespassing, do we? And don't
go alone as the area is really bushy and you may just need
help from anything......

Hoisted empty plastic
bottles can be seen over the land. Click
