Ghoulish trail to walk
along
- You have 20 to 30 minutes to
wander around the whole ghost town. Be warned on the potential
dangers in this estate, and any action that you take is totally
at your own risk. There are strayed dogs around, foreign workers
nearby, and (may be) triads hiding out. Places are badly
deserted and vandalized. You may walk in pairs or in small
groups to recee every floor of the building if you dare too. You
will see how some houses were evacuated in a rush with many
things still left behind; see (and imagine) how the shops were
operating busily in the past and now gone with the wind.. Surely
it is more interesting than OCH. But please see for your eyes
only, don't touch anything and don't take anything back. Use
your common sense to deal with anything suspicious. Always be
observant and cautious. When things
are not right, run!
After you return to the bus, tell us what secret you have
discovered. Interesting stories would be shared around in the
bus on our way heading to Kranji.

Ghoulish information to learn from
No joking. This is truly a
Singapore's ghost town. This place is damn eerie at night. You
will hear stray dogs howling, ghost whispering and laughing in the
wind...
The Ultimate Mystery
You are encouraged to brainstorm in the bus after visiting this
ghost town. Why this Kranji HDB was abandoned as if the residence
has left in just overnight? Be prepared to hear many wonderful
explanations from each other.
Rumours of Banana Tree Spirit
In every season, the banana trees are ready to blossom and their
purple jantongs (hearts) which contained their flowers would start
to appear. Soon the flowers would burst through and transform
themselves into little green fruit, as small as a baby's fingers.
These would grow quickly and within a month there would be
beautiful bananas on long stems ready to be cut down and hung up
to ripen.
In the Kranji Banana plantation, there is a Pisang Raja tree -
King of Bananas. The flesh and the skin of this particular
species of banana was the color of gold and it tasted like no
other banana. But one day, the Pisang Raja tree has been
vandalized. Tied tightly around the jantong were strands of
cotton sewing threads. They were of seven different colors. Why
would anyone want to do such a thing? Somebody from the
neighbourhood was trying to force the spirit of the Pisang Raja
tree to grant him a special favour. By reciting jampi-jampi
(magic verses used by witchdoctors) and tying threads tightly
around the jantong, the flower buds would be deprived of moisture
and would die. The threads would only be untied if the tree
spirit agreed to grant the person the favour. Because of the
tightly wound threads around its jantong, the tree spirit could be
heard to groan in pain.
There the culprit near the Pisang Raja tree, prayed out loud
"Spirit of this tree! I command you to give me the first prize
number in this week's lottery! If you don't, I shall destroy your
jantong and you shall die!"
Two days later, he won the lottery and moved out from the HDB
flats into a condominium. On the same day, the Pisang Raja tree
died because the thief didn't keep his promise and untie the
thread. And the revenge from all the banana tree spirits from the
whole farm have come into the HDB estate, in search of the
thief.. We don't know what had happened. But all the people
hastily moved out from the HDB estate as if they had just
vaporized overnight. -- Source: "There
