Old Changi Hospital A&E compounds -
now no longer exists
Fuzzy noise in Changi A&E
(Source: SPI Investigation Team)
It was late-afternoon when we first set our footsteps into the OCH
A&E. Many people claimed to have been to the OCH and had a
thrilling experience. But very few would know about OCH A&E.
It was very quiet like a dead house as it was sited down on the
other side of the road opposite OCH. There was still bright
sun lights soaking warm the ground during our investigation.
Once we walked in, we already felt the chill and the sharp drop of
temperature. We had a team of three members, each
specialized with his own equipment. Agent K was a camera
man, Agent F was taking video and Agent A got his ears covered
with earphones that connected to the eavesdropping device - one
that has a satellite dish in front for capturing the tiniest
sounds. As usual our EMF meters were attached to our back -
just a way to make sure nothing eerie would tailgate us.. If they
do, we would be alerted. In this investigation, however, we
were wearing mouth masks, because the building seemed to be ruined
and contained a lot of dusts, may be deadly germs too.
This was a three level building, about half the size of the OCH
compound. It has a lobby for registration, clinics for
emergency rescues, and a basement! The upper levels were
basically wards of sick beds and offices. We explored almost
every corner. Nothing looked scary except one section: the
A&E waiting room. The sun was still shining bright outside;
the parking bay for ambulances can still be clearly seen.
Inside, it was dim and cold. Agent A who was the
eavesdropping man suddenly paused walking. His muscles on
his face tightened, frowned and twisted! Ignoring us, he
focused pointing his eavesdropping gun forward, slowly swayed it
side by side. He kept on murmuring, 'This is impossible..',
'What the f**k' A while later he suddenly turned around and
pointed the gun to the waiting benches, then turned back to the
corridor that we were facing. We were planning to move into
the corridor for checking what was inside. Agent A just
refused to move.. We were shocked too when we saw how
frightened he was as though he was listening to something that
drew all his attention.
'Wah..!!' out of a sudden he closed his eyes and ran straight out
of the building, to the parking bay and climbed to the stairs up
to the road. We never saw him run so fast before. We
rushed out of the building too, and followed him. Our only
thought at that time was to hold him tight - we really felt that
he would lose his mind and dashed out to the road. Cars were
traveling fast in Netheravon Road. It would be fatal if he
got hit, no doubt about that. We finally grabbed him.
Together Agent K and F were holding him on the road side while he
just anyhow sat down, breathing heavily.
When he gained his calmness we worriedly asked him 'What the f**k
has happened?' Agent A cleared this throat and gave us a
strange reply 'Do you remember what I last saw before I ran out of
the compound?' Agent K surely remembered as he was observing
Agent A all the while, from how he suddenly stopped as if he
picked up some signals, to the moment he ran away for life.
K said firmly, 'At first you were watching all over the A&E lobby,
from far to near, searching for something.. You eye-sights
were fuzzy; can't focus nor find what you were expecting to see.
This lasted for about two minutes and your fear ever increased.
Finally you looked at the main board. That was what you
finally saw'. Still short of breath, Agent A lightly nodded
his head and admitted. .. 'That board.. the poster.. that
was what I heard'. A little confused in the expression he
used. He "heard" a poster? Doesn't make sense, right?
Fortunately we had taken a picture of that poster. Please
see below. Agent A continued to explain 'You wouldn't
believe it. As soon as I stepped into the A&E lobby it was
like entering a totally different dimension. The smell
changed, the feeling.. that was very hard to describe.. just
changed. I felt that time was changed and the whole
atmosphere just changed. That made me even forgot who I am,
where I am, what am I doing and where you guys are! What
sounded around me was very realistic voices, sounds and noises of
how patients were unloaded from ambulances, put on trolleys and
rushed to the rescue ward. I can tell you none of the
so-called best stereo surround sound system in my house gave me so
realistic the sound quality. I heard big chaos. People
were talking, shouting in a mix of tunes and volumes. I
heard there were engines operating at the back of the building too
which I had totally no idea what that was.'
He paused, looked at us. We looked at him too,
expressionless and speechless. 'I know you guys won't
believe me. But I can tell you, even the slightest sound
like how a mother sitting on a waiting bench whispering to her
child I can hear.' Agent F interrupted 'Did you see
anything?' 'No, nothing, although I was trying to see
something', 'That was absolutely a horrifying experience, because
you know that you are hearing something but you can't see them at
all. My nerves just got f**ked up.' 'I know that I
looked like a jerk just now when my vision and my ears cannot
coordinate.' We tapped his shoulder and said 'ok buddy, lets
call it a day. We go home, take a shower and forget about
this for a while, can?' This instance really made us big
creeps.. not just of ghost, but we were damn scared to see Agent A
almost jumped out of the road and be hit by a car. We
counted our blessings that nobody was injured. We take time
to solves this mystery later, as long as we are healthy and alive
which is most important.

This is the poster displayed
on the main board of OCH A&E. Agent A said he "heard" the
poster.
OCH secret underground bunker
(Source: SPI Investigation
Team)
Investigation the OCH A&E gave us good insights about the
locations and design of the military barracks in the Changi area.
Most importantly we studied the possibility of the existence of a
secret underground bunker under OCH and the other compounds.
We have a daring speculation, a huge underground bunker would have
existed under the hilly area of Changi. The secret bunker
has connecting tunnels linking up most of the commando barracks
nearby, and of course, the OCH and OCH A&E.
There was a basement in OCH A&E mainly used for archiving medical
records. However, by estimating its size and the area
coverage of the compound, the archive room only occupied less than
half the size of the total basement area. The rest of the
basement space, if it ever existed, should be on the other side
near the OCH and be accessible through only a few ways, for
example, the lift. As what we could see in OCH A&E (and OCH
as well) their lifts were sealed off! Bricks were used to
block the life in OCH A&E. That means even if you have the
power, it wouldn't work.
Now, OCH A&E has been demolished as a flat land. All the
secrets including the access tunnel to the secret bunker are
totally buried. The strange thing is, OCH A&E was torn down
about two years ago. The government doesn't seem to have any
plan of reusing the land. It is still left empty as it was.
Why so hastily wanted to perish that unused building? Is it
a way to cover some secret within? While the other existing
barracks stand still, they are either heavily locked up or guarded
by security personnel and dogs. Why spend such operational
cost on just an empty abandoned building? Some may argue
that it is a norm to invest on employing security guard for
protecting heritage buildings. May be so. But there is
a higher chance that those buildings will be pulled down than be
preserved. It just appeared to us that there is some secret
they are well being covered.
There are reasons to support this idea. Take Fort Canning
for example. Only years ago, the government announced and
opened the underground bunker at Fort Canning. Nobody could
be sure about its existence before this. Also, you can see
that military installations like Fort Canning, Changi barracks and
OCH are commonly built on a hill, such is a strategic location.
Another reason is, it is easier to build an underground compound
inside a hill. One not need to dig so deep into the earth
crust. And some hills inside may naturally have caves like
those in Afghanistan.
By studying many references on WWII in Singapore, we found that
British had built a 'fortress Singapore' by concentrating their
forces in the Eastern side - Changi. The Navel Base were
laid along Sentosa all the way to Changi reckoning that the enemy
attack would come from the East and seaward. These defenses
began around Changi, which is at the easternmost point of the
Island, and existed in the form of some concrete pill-boxes,
anti-boat and anti-tank obstacles, gun posts, land mines and
barged wire fences and traps. The infantry and ammunitions
are mostly stationed in Changi too, most probably in those
barracks and (if they exist) in the underground bunkers.
A British solider used to say that British had been digging large
fortresses around Changi around. The army installations and
ammunitions were enough to overwhelm the Japanese aggression.
And he was shocked on the fall of Singapore although they had
piled up a large fighting forces. From these clues we
believe there exist a large hidden underground bunker in Changi
area that was built by the British, possibly right underneath OCH.
Here also comes another question, if ever such bunker existed,
what would be stored inside? Why then it has got covered up?
It is speculated that the marked military installations on the map
are linked up, by a secret underground bunker.
