Why a Kramat has no body buried underneath? What does the legend of a 500 years old Holy Man got to do with this rock?

Sacred Kramat and Magic Waterfall

Along Bukit Timah road, there is a 485 years old Kramat and a miracle well. The Kramat Burung Merpati, which is also known as The Pigeon Shrine, to great surprise, does not have any body buried underneath. It was a legendary Holy man or a saint called Ishmail that filled this Kramat sacred. Till today, few faithful followers who know about this legend still come and pay respect, and got their wishes granted. They still believe the healing well that heals those who are sick by drinking its water. But what made Ishmail holy enough to become the center of worship, and what gave the water in the miracle well healing power?

It was said that a supernatural force existed in the midst of Bukit Timah hill in the past. In more than 500 years ago, a pious Muslim, called Ishmail who came from India, to Singapore and lived in the hill. In just about 100 meters away from the Kramat there was a waterfall and a naturally formed mediation rock in the middle of the Bukit Timah hill.

Legend has it that on every Thursday night, Jinnˇ¦s would come to bath in the waterfall. On one fateful Thursday night, Ishamil accidentally stumbled across the waterfall and encountered the Jinnˇ¦s. Nobody knew exactly what happened. But in the following days and nights, he was seen sitting on that particular meditation rock that is in a form of a chair with a back support. Ishmail mediated all the way without needing any food or drink, until one night he gained immortality and vanished in air, right on that meditation rock.

Lately the caretaker of this Kramat told SPI that the holy man entered into his dreams and even appeared in front of his eyes. The place is blessed while the holy manˇ¦s spirit was dwelling around since the night he became immortal on that mediation rock.

Is this a fact or fiction? Catch the latest SPI Case File on Singtel 3Logy Channel for this story. A very detailed documentation of this amazing investigation is coming soon too, in the next website update, exclusively on SPI.

Meanwhile, lets embark on the following amazing pictorial tour for some highlights of the investigation.

Pictorial Tour

1 - 3. Different views of the Kramat. However nobody was buried under the soil because the holy man Ishmail has immortalized.
4. The caretaker of the Kramat who claimed to have seen the holy man spirit at the Kramat, started to mediate

1 - 3. Strange thing started to happen. There was no smoker in SPI team; a mist of haze suddenly started to emerge engulf the Kramat
4. Is this ectoplasm, a substance that is thought by some to flow from a medium during a trance?
The mist was at its thickest at the Kramat. On the last photo, it reveals what appears to be a human figure.
Would this be Ishmail's apparition? Or simply eyes are playing trick on our brains?

1 - 2. Mr. Manjet Singh, our informant who knows this Kramat and the legend of the Ishmail Holy Man was being interviewed
3. Manjet led SPI from the Kramat to trace the footprints of the Holy Man who lived deep in Bukit Timah before he was immortalized
4. At the start of the journey, we encountered many pouches of temperature drops. Logically it was the cooled air at night.
Paranormally, it could be something else ... Check out an alleged "face" with 2 bullet holes in the last photo. See a close up here.

1 - 2. Deep into an ulu jungle in Bukit Timah, SPI and Manjet bashed and in search of the meditation rock
3. Finally we found it. It is a natural huge boulder with a flat top and a backing, looks much like a sofa chair.
Notice that some writing in black ink is on the meditation rock? It looks like the mysterious language on the Singapore Stone.
Do they have any relation? What does the message say? The legend tells Ishmail the Holy Man meditated on this mediation rock
4. SPI climbed up and checked out the top surface of the meditation rock; it is flat and somewhat very clean.

1. For investigating meditation phenomenon, a SPI agent tried himself on this particular rock for feeling for any unusual sensation
2. The ambience had to be in complete darkness. So the photos were taken in night vision infrared mode. The hill is full of strong "Qi".
3. Ten minutes have elapsed. Something conductive has descended from the top channeling through the mediator from the rock below
4. "Something" was there. The meditation had to be stopped for safety reasons. The forthcoming SPI File has the full details.

This incredible Kramat legend of the Holy man Ishmail is very much related to the magic water in the water fall and healing well.
SPI continued the search for all the relic ruins mentioned in this intriguing legend. Scientific experiments were conducted there too.

1. Along the journey, SPI stumbled across what looks like a tomb, that pretty much resembles the Water Tomb at MacRitchie Reservoir
It is however only a marker indicating some utilities facility is nearby.
2 - 3. The journey in search of the legendary waterfall continues ...
4. Given the height of Bukit Timah hill, it is no surprise to have mountain creeks and waterfall up to certain scale.
The quarry down there used to collect water, many had swam there before it was closed to the public

1. SPI finally found the legendary water fall. However, no sexy looking female fairy was bathing there as what legend always deceive us
2. The water however is crystal clear, cool, tastes sweet and smooth in texture. SPI has collected the water for laboratory tests
3. This is our very Singapore unique water fall despite its small size. The water is said to have healing power.
