Mystery of Wind Chimes in Kampong Java Park

Case 002: From the Haunted Places Kampong Java -  Mysterious wind chimes

Submitted by Lilian Sung on Saturday, September 07, 2002 10:01:24 AM

Dear SPI, I am never an expert in paranormal unlike you guys. I only want to offer my explanation on why wind chimes are hanging over the trees in Kampong Java Pond. This is what I heard from my grand-ma. She said in terms of Feng-Shui the area is full of killing chi, that means the energy is fierce and causing disturbance to the people nearby. That is because the pond is located at the intersection of CTE and Bukit Timah Road. There are much traffic passing by and cutting through day and night. By hanging the wind chimes opposite to the intersection, the people believe it helps soothing out the environment -- and therefore reducing the risk of road accident. Sori that I have not heard any story about what is in the bottom of the pond.

From my thinking, actually judging from the height. It is impossible to hang the wind chimes up there. But if someone hang it ever since about 30 yrs ago?

Then in the past, the tree is still short then he/she hang there for fun. So when the tree grow to the currently height now. Rumours of the eerid wind chimes start to spread around?

My dad told me when i was a kid that the entire park area was cemetery and not Jewish but Armenian. There was a particular ghost named Gazlas that use to haunt the grounds. he would appear as a ball of flame and terrorise the residents. try hunting down the original tenants of the colonial houses next to the new Tanglin police station. Also look into how many people actually set up businesses along that stretch. From memory i can remember, Shakeys, Palm beach Seafood, a used car dealer etc. there was also a series of unknown fire outbreaks. Palm beach was burned down twice before it owners decided to move to Kallang.

There is a certain truth to these tales.

I came across your story about kampung java park, seems quite interesting and relates to what my dad told me about the place.

My father, although malaysian, grew up in katong, singapore and stayed there right up till 1976 when he got married. Everytime we visit Signapore, he would tell me about that park beside the new KK women's and children's hospital, he said that used to be an old English cemetary. He recalls during the 70's they had to exhume the graves to make way for development. During that time, according to him, he made a big mistake by being a busybody and went to take a look..

He saw them digging and breaking the middlepart of a coffin. he said he could see the deceased's fingernails grown long.. and then he couldnt take it and said he got sick after that.

He also saw a coffin, which was sealed with metal. maybe the person died from some disease.. That they broke open too..

not too sure how this is related, but its just for your info..
