SPI Ghoulish Trail + SPI Spooky Walk

1. Spirits hovering
over tombs in the form of orbs is a common sight;
2. Sometimes, spirits manifest themselves in ectoplasm, that depends
on your luck;
3. Dare you stroll along this lane in pitch dark alone, when a massive
graveyard is behind the wall, and Pontianak frequent on those trees;
4. Imagine you are engulfed with hundreds of dead bodies just few feet
below your feet

1. Ear piercing shriek
from the living dead is heard behind this depilated fence and security
barbed wires.
2. You are certainly not alone in the ghoulish places; in fact you are
being watched from above and below
3. A deserted house burnt down by fire, bathed in dark eeriness and
rotted in agony. What is the sad story behind it?
4. A royal mansion that loses its glory of yesterday but left with
historical mysteries nowadays, awaiting you to solve
What is SPI Ghoulish Trail?
Since year 2002, SPI Ghoulish Trail has
been serving the public original 'ghoulish' sightseeing trails upon
their requests. What are the X-factors that make SPI Ghoulish
Trail the most popular event in Singapore?
The success formula for SPI Ghoulish Trail: it is always informative,
educational, fun and of course thrilling. It
takes you to Singapore mysterious urban legend landscape where you
won't find on usual road maps. The trail was first held in March
2002 for promoting a "Color Me" national programme for National Heritage Board. And since of all, it is into a
remarkable journey down the
Singapore unbeaten paths, with intriguing accounts of paranormal
sightings and haunting, legends, mysteries, historical wonders, and
gruesome stories of murder, suicide and violent deaths.
Its popularity is universal and transcends ages and occupations; the
young and the old, the housewives and professionals, both
participated. SPI can help you free-of-charge in organizing, planning
and advising on one of these trails as your own
events, for your organization or school. Each load of outing is
usually by an air-con coach that accommodates up to 40 participants.
You get to mingle with our SPI investigators who volunteer to narrate to you the frightening
tales on the sites, and share their unique encounters and
experiences along the way. It is a social night of fun, spooks, chills and thrills for
everyone.
What is SPI Spooky Walk?
Since year 2006, SPI Spooky Walk has become another popular phenomenon
for paranormal enthusiasts - its aim is to explore interesting places
in Singapore in a team. (Well, it is never advisable to explore into a
wild jungle or a dark pit alone, right?)
Different from Ghoulish Trail that goes on 40-seater coaches, Spooky
walk is totally foot-exploration and SPI organizes this expedition on
regular basis. The places that we cover during the Spooky Walk are
more focused, and much more in depth that requires sometimes tough
trekking, climbing and bush bashing.
Each Spooky Walk event is voluntarily led by SPI Agents who have
substantial experiences about the route and the places. We usually go
with a team size capped at around 20 people. All are welcome, and
Spooky Walk is usually free of charge, except when it comes with a BBQ
or special logistic required. As a non-profit hobby club, all the
expenses would be fairly and transparently shared among the
participants, making it most affordable for everyone.

for the interesting places we have conquered by our Spooky Walk in the
past, and check out our forthcoming coming events.
In addition to the action-oriented events, we sometimes have
knowledge-sharing events such as Seminars and Workshops. Events for
conducting paranormal investigations with some invited Masters or
specialists would be organized too. All are either free-of-charge or
cost-sharing among the participants.

Q. Will we see ghosts? |
|
SPI Ghoulish Trail aims to create an environment which
encourages spirits and ghosts presence by undertaking trails which are
respectful of their realm. Spirits, ghosts and ghoulish entities have been
seen on the trails. Spectacular full scale appearances of these "things" are
rare but do and have occurred. Strange, weird and unexplainable occurrences
are regularly experienced by individual clients. Stay alert as often spirits
linger at the edge of the darkness at the sites visited, studying the groups
themselves. There is no guarantee that you will definitely see a ghost or
even feel a presence. Encounters with the Other World tend to be experienced
by individual clients rather than by an entire group. Spirits choose whom
they will reveal themselves to carefully and deliberately. If you expect to
see one, you may be disappointed. The Dead are not circus animals forced to
appear and perform for the Living for a price. Besides, if we did choose to
force these "things" to appear on cue then we would have to charge a lot
more than we do and no-one would want to pay the price They would demand...

|
Q. Which is the creepiest trail? |
Each Ghoulish Trail is designed to be as creepy as possible
without compromising client safety. Some sites vary in creepiness depending
on weather, the behaviour of clients, and the amount of traffic and
nightlight. These are factors beyond cannot control. There is also variation
between people as to what each finds "creepy". What one mortal finds creepy
may not be to another.
Group sizes are managed to create as creepy and eerie an atmosphere as
possible. We aim to put a chill down your spine on every trail... |
|
Q. Are the stories real or just made up? |
|
SPI Ghoulish Trail is proud of its commitment to preserving
oral history often ignored by traditional historians - subjects such as
murder, death, ghosts, spirits and haunting. Every story is "real" to those
that were interviewed. The stories you will hear are based on oral history,
folklore, reminiscences and memories, gathered from local people. There is a
lot of careful research behind the small details and facts revealed to
clients.
|
|
Q. Are the sites visited really haunted? |
|
Yes. At least the sources of the stories and tales believe
so. The stories you will hear are based on oral history, folklore,
reminiscences and memories, gathered from local people. There is a lot of
careful research behind the small details and facts revealed to clients. |
|
Q. Why don't you get people to jump out at groups? |
The real spirits and ghosts present at the sites visited do
not like it and would stay away. We try to create an atmosphere which draws
Them close through eerie story telling which They like very much (They sense
fear, you see).
There is a risk of serious injury or even death if clients were frightened
deliberately in a dark and unfamiliar place.
Many of the places we visit are sacred historic places such as cemeteries
and access is a privilege. It would be disrespectful to have pretend ghosts
leaping out in a place where people died, were murdered or lie buried.
Because most clients do not want this. Pretend ghosts annoy more people than
delight.
There is a strong focus on the history of each haunting, not just scaring
people silly. We do not apologize for this as the trails appeal to a wide
range of people.
Ghoulish Trail assumes those attending possess some imagination and an
interest in the background of why a spirit haunts a site, rather than
attending a trail just to get terrified. The tales that are told are often
intricate and do require your mental attention. Don't worry though...it will
be creepy. |
|
Q. What do we need to bring for the Trail? |
|
A sweater and a torchlight are essential. The air-cond in the
coach may freeze you if not the chilling spooky places. Proper shoe wear is
needed as it may require walking through some bushy areas. If you are
susceptible to mosquitoes, bring insect repellent. |
|
Q. Can our children come on the trails? |
Yes, but...please read the following of you are a child or a
parent or guardian considering a trail:
WARNING: Ghoulish Trails are not recommended for children under 12 years.
Parents and guardians are advised that this trail features strong content in
the form of true historic ghost stories and tales. The stories include
gruesome and macabre material including murders, crimes, violence, deaths,
executions and suicides. The stories can be frightening, scary and
distressing to clients especially young children. Taking a Ghoulish
Trail is at own risk. SPI reserves the right to refuse escorting any child
below 5 or person whom is deemed to be at risk from the material presented.
|
|
Q. How safe are the Trails? |
Undertaking a Ghoulish Trail is at your own risk; Although we
are volunteers each Trail
Assistant has basic first aid qualifications and has access to a mobile
telephone in the event of emergency. All possible steps are taken to ensure
everybody's physical safety. From our experiences we would advise to change
the itinerary if needed for safety. Trails are carefully structured to minimize potential injury to
clients and there are rules to ensure the physical safety of the Living.
This means that wandering around freely in the dark in an old cemetery or
prison alone is not permitted. Ghoulish Trail makes no apologies for
restricting clients movements to ensure they are returned safely to their
loved ones. We reserves the right to change a venue from the pre-planed
itinerary without prior
notice in the event of bad weather or other unforeseen factors.
Usually an indemnity form is required to be read, understood and undersigned by
every Ghoulish Trail participant before the event starts.
Spiritual safety is an issue for
clients to take responsibility for. As in most cases, the spirits of the
sites visited do not follow the living home. They are already at home in
their own dark places. But please, do not make any challenges.
|
|
Q. How fit must we be? |
We expect clients to have a sound level of fitness. Ghoulish Trail strongly
recommends that those with the following medical conditions do not
participate in the trail:
* Pregnancy;
* Strained / injury muscles;
* Recent surgery;
* High blood pressure;
* Asthma;
* Previous Heart attacks;
* Difficulties with standing/walking distances;
* Difficulties with ascending and descending stairs. |
|
Q. Can we smoke during a trail? |
|
No. Smoking is NOT PERMITTED during a Ghoulish Trail. We don't want to
capture a photo of ectoplasm but in fact was mistaken by your cigarette
smoke. |
|
Q. Can we consume alcohol or drugs during or before a trail?
|
|
No. Alcohol is NOT PERMITTED prior to or during a Ghoulish Trail. Besides it
is said that drunk people are prone to be possessed, alcohol potentially
gives rise to hallucination. Likewise, drugs are forbidden during the trail
apart from essential medication. |
|
Q. Can we wander around each site on our own? |
No. For safety reasons, clients are expected to remain in the company of
their group unless directed otherwise by the Guide.
Ghoulish Trail expects clients to respect the historic nature of its trail,
the sites visited and other clients on the trail. These trails are unique and
rare. They offer something which cannot be experienced any other way. |
