Despite its fateful location for the
surrender signing ceremony that marked the fall of Singapore, the
old Ford Factory in Bukit Batok is reputably haunted for its rich
history as a military headquarter occupied by the Japanese army
during WW2. Legends hold that many Samurai-style Japanese imperial
troops conducted ritualistic suicide called Seppuko at the end of
their defeated war.
Samurai preferred death to dishonor. If a samurai disgraced
himself by surrendering or retreating, he was expected to commit
suicide in the ritual of Seppuko (or hara-kiri). In this ceremony he would cut
open his abdomen with his short sword. Many died in such a violent
death when they lose the war. Based on this fact, SPI carried out
the biggest ever investigation, together with TCS Mediacorp team
to try staking out those earth-bound spirits in Ford Factory.
