Bedok Haunted House   (Part 1 of 7)

A SOS letter

Everything started from just an email...

This is a true story.  It is one of the most significant accounts for SPI for a few reasons.  Not only the degree of horrors we felt in this investigation is extraordinary, but it is the ending that totally shocked every one of us.  During the investigations, some of our members got attacked by the spiritual forces.  They fell sick on the spot and we were scared, because we have never experienced such incredible curses in our lives.  But at end, we chose to believe that it was caused by natural phenomenon - germs.  And we found our ways to vitalize ourselves.

It is our luck that finally the client gave us permission to share this account over to the public for the very first time.  You will see how a haunted house just at our very familiar neighbor was really like.  The atmosphere was creepy not less than the horror movies.  And the dark forces were so realistic that differed much from the fantasy as you watch in movies.  We are about to show a real haunting account.  The insight that you see is at a different level when compared to those horror movies merely made up of special effect.

As usual, many big happenings start from something small.

On 23 June 2001, we heard of a little 'ding' from our computer in the SPI office.  Here came an email from a girl who wrote unsolicited to us about her family torment.  Kenny who was on duty at our old International Plaza office that night just bought his dinner from Burger King, was reading through the email while sinking his teeth on the burgers.  Initially he didn't pay much attention as it is a norm that many fans write to SPI regarding ghostly stuff.  It was such a long email.  After read, he broadcasted the email to all the SPI members.  And finally we decided to engage an investigation on this matter.  Here is the original content from the email but with the header and the bottom were truncated due to privacy:

.. (truncated) ..

My dad just told me that if I ever was in the hose alone, just don't leave it dead quiet. Turn on some music or something. Which is wat I did exactly on this year's Valentine's.

I was cooking a big dinner for my ex bf in the kitchen at about 6-7pm. The only lights turned on in the hse is my room and the kitchen's (we are so used by my mum's ways of turning the lights off in any parts of the house tat aren't being used). Alone at home then, I blasted my Hi-fi loud such that I could hear the radio while I was cooking as my room is pretty far from the kitchen. At 1st, I went to answer a call on my hp which was being charged. It is at the area of the long wooden table just infront of my Hi-fi. After I hung up on the call, I noticed that 1 of the 4 glasses holding my tealight candles is off the Hi-fi and lying vertically on the table just beside my hand. It is weird. For the displacement in my room, the Hi-fi has a flat wide surface. So how could a heavy object like a glass fall from a height of about a foot and a half nicely on the wooden table without any noise. I placed the glass back to where it was thinking that I might have accidentally knocked it over even though I knew I didn't and couldn't possible have. This time, I was more alert to the ways the 4 glasses r placed so the same thing would not repeat itself again. I was wrong.

I turned on the music of my Hi-fi again and returned back to the kitchen. Not long later, I heard a sound "piang" coming from my bedroom. It sounded as if someone had dropped some glass objects. Sensing something wrong I dashed to my room straight. What I saw astounded me completely. The other 2 glasses had its tealight candles inside flipped out n strewn on the floor and each glass was stack on top of one another. Now, surely...can this my eyes playing tricks on me u say Kenny?

On 3 different occasons I have heard voices calling me in my house. Each time they called out to me and I turned to see in the direction, it always seems to be calling out from some dark place (areas in the house that lights are off). Not only have I heard it, frds from my Poly days who aren't sensitive to spirits at all also tells me they hear voices coming from my bedroom when they r in the living room while I was in the toilet and no one is in the house at all but us. Tv and radio was off at that time too. Its not the 1st time this has been happeneing. Thats why me being insensitive to spirits, can't see em, can't sense em, can't hear em, can actually be a believer in all these supernatural as I have experienced it myself personally.

All the time these ever happened, I was always alone at home. The voices that I heard, it happened when I am in my most relaxed state. Nuthing on my mind. Just like a normal day at home. So how can my minds be playing tricks on me? I mean, my computer even self activated by itself when I had set the screen to screensaver lock!! Both mi and my frd were in my room talking last yr when the Winamp just started playing by itself. I configured my Winamp in my PC personally. It could not have started playing on its own like tat unless someone uses the mouse and clicks on the Play button on the Winamp Player. The windows in the living room as usual are all locked and closed, no 1 in the house but mi n my frd.

Yes, my granny stays just a storey below us. Y her house is not haunted? Its super clean, extremely spacious and the windows r always open. The walls r white. Its like Heaven if u step into it. In the day, its so bright n sunny...even if u have the slightest worry of the day, somehow the fengshui of the house seems to drive it all away. It is also a corner flat like my house, so in terms of size its the same as my house. I'm not kidding. I can show u my granny's house on the 5th floor shd u guys ever come down to my place.

I did some homework and checked up on my house. I realise the fault lies in the untidyness and the nonsense my mum brings home from overseas. My mum has a bad habit of bringing home odd stuff she buys from overseas and she at least travel to 1 country every yr. A few yrs ago, she went to Cairo, Egypt n got home God knows what. Then China, Korea..etc....this yr she went to Greece. Travelling to different countries is an annual not-to-be-missed affair by her. Those stuff she brought home can be seen displayed at the long messy off-white shelf in my living room leading from my bedroom to the kitchen. From the main door of my house you can even see the shelf.

My bedroom used to be 2 times worse the state in my kitchen cus it was converted into a spare storeroom. As kids, mi n my bro wld bunk in with my mum in her master bedroom. As I got older n needed personal space, I converted the storeroom into my bedroom. That was in 96. My mum said not to throw out the rubbish and leave em in the living room so that she could go thru the stuff she wanted n throw ut those she didn't need. As I said earlier tat was in 96. Look at the junk in my then bedroom in my living room still.

My grandma living just below me had advised my mum on cleaning up the house. So did my dad. My uncles (my mum's own brothers) and their wives. Just late last yr alone, I had a very huge fight with my mum on the house again. I offered to paint the entire house for free if only she help cleared up the mess. I reasoned that if she could spend thousands yearly on holidays, what r a few hundreds on cheap n nice Ikea furnitures and free labour of paint job mattered? She scolded me like hell and almost drove me outta the house. She asked mi to faster get married and leave the house the state as it is as she is very comfortable with the house.

In 95 when I was in Sec 4 I had a tennant from China. being squeeky clean like me, she cleaned up the entire house the moment she moved in. Big mistake. My mum got
home and was appalled by the state the house was in--extremely clean. She rushed down to the rubbish area of the void deck and started picking up all those stuff thrown out and brought em home enraged. She then threw my tennant out for 'intruding into her privacy'.

As an elderly frd of mine at 42 tells me, if a person does not change by 40, he/she will nvr change. My mum is already 50 this yr and the house has been like that
for about 20 years already. Since I am gonna get married one day and move out, why bother to fight over the house again? It is her house, she has the final say. She can choose to throw me out anytime. I might as well concentrate my time and energy into making sure my new matrimonial house is not like the 1 I lived in for the past 10 over yrs. My friend who knws psychic even says that my house seems to be like a cross junction for spirits as he sensed and sees not just 2, but more than 5 spirits in my house.

I am also not sure if all these spirits are also attracted to what my mum did when I was about 5-8. I have told this incident to my bf and 2 other frds b4. You see, my mum visited lotsa malay and chinese bomohs (more of the malay ones especially) not long after my dad left us. As a child, she would bring only me (I dunno why but its always me and not my brother) on long bus trips (back then the MRTS weren't built yet) from bedok to Woodlands, Buona Vista and all around the island seeking help from bomohs every Sunday. This was a total irony as my mum used to be a Sunday school teacher when my dad knew her.

Back to the story, my dad would come twice a week to tuition both me and my brother and each time he came, we are forced to conspire with my mum and act nonchalent as she served him drugged drinks she got from bomohs. She even had the main door handle smeared with some sorta stinking oil minutes b4 my dad would arrive to tuition us.

She did all these for many years till I reached upper primary. Thats an estimated 4yrs since she started on the bomoh thing. There wasn't any results. My dad didn't came back to my mum at all and she gave up.

Now, with this secret revealed by me, my frds advised me that all these wierd stuff could probably be from 1 of my the stuff my mum dabbled in b4. 1 of the odd stuff she got from some malay bomoh. Maybe even a toyol! Afterall my house is so messy, she could have easily hid it anywhere among the rubbish pile. Her own bedroom is about 2 times worse the state in the living room itself. I mean, which mother would actually fight for the untidyness of her house stubbornly? If it were any of my frd's mums, they would kill their kids if their rooms were to be ever as messy as my living room.

My pyschic frds who have seen my mum tells me my mum looks wierd. Her face seems to be dark. As in spiritually unhealthy. In a way what they said have some truths as sometimes late at night, when I bump into my mum in the living b4 lights off, she looks pretty eerie and odd to me. Just a feeling.

Doing up my room clean i thought I could escape the spirits. How wrong I was again. It didn't help at all.

Guess the best way right now is to move out. I am living in a very spiritually unhealthy place.
However i still love my mum, i wish very much you guys can help in improving our home.

With Love;
Alice Koh (that is not the client's real name)

Rich enough the description, though sounds a bit incredible, we as SPI keeps a motto of "we are ready to believe you" with an open mind.  That is, at first, we don't deny any thing no matter how strange it looks until we find the proof for debunking it.  To believe, we must have reasons and evidences.  Likewise, not to believe, we also need the same.  We don't keep any biased view.  On the following day, we contacted the girl, and booked with her a time to discuss on this matter.

Next we will show you another famous haunting incident that happened very close to where the girl lived.  We believe it has been circulating on the Internet for sometime (that's why we call it famous).  The two cases, though both happened in Bedok, may or may not be related.  And it just happened that SPI was also investigating the vicinity of Bedok during those days.
