The Myths of Haw Par Villa   (Part 7 of 9)

A Scary Night Visit to the Dumping Site

SPI underestimated how badly haunted this dumping ground is, and suffered illness after this scary night visit.
3. The results captured are not merely orbs, but unusual green flying light torpedo hovering above the statues (as circled in red).

The date was near the end of April during the Chinese festival called 'Ching Ming' and the time was about 2am.  This was one of the spookiest hours one can get to investigate a dumping ground filled with abandoned mythical statues.  A legend commonly known among the Chinese community is that during Ching Ming, the weather is usually gloomy and rainy; that creates a saddening atmosphere for the descendents to pay respect to their ancestors at their tombs.  Believe it or not.

In a way, our investigation trip on that night was like visiting a tomb.  A large tomb of lost statues!  The mission was to verify the trueness of our interviewees' accounts, and to detect any paranormal phenomena (for sure there are many).

KC, Gate and Kenny drove deep into the end of Science Park II where there was a wild bush land - the backyard of Haw Par Villa.  We passed several R&D commercial buildings like Crimson Logics where Kenny had his first job as an engineer there (memories emerged).  This is an elite land called Science Park, that is converged of the top scientists, researchers and professionals in the day time.  But at night in this eerie hour, it was like a ghost town.  And it was a moonless night.

After we parked our car at the end of the driveway, we started trekking towards the bush.  "Yuk!" Gate exclaimed.  The mud was so soft that our boots sank completely into it.  The boots were then sucked in by the mud, requiring much efforts to pull our legs up.  Squelch, squelch, squelch, our moving speed was incredibly slow across this half-muddy, half-swampy land.

The mud got drier as we reached the foot of the hill.  The upward slope helps letting out of water, and the ground returns to its normal solidness that we were thankful about.  On the other hand, however, it has more wild grasses overgrowing the place.  We setup our detection equipment as well as having our cameras ready.  We switched the camera mode to high shutter speed and multiple shoots.  Eerie occurrences won't stay long and still for us to photograph like those stone statues.

1 & 2. SPI trekked across a very muddy ground to advance to the dumping hill.  3. SPI reached the hill;
4. This is one of the most magnificant photo with both orbs and green glittering lights.
Orbs are only visible to camera and the green glitters can be seen by naked eyes.  Are they fireflies or something else?

Out of a sudden, in a meter or two, we saw something with great shock.  We couldn't believe our eyes.  But yet we were not sure what we had seen.

Greenish glittering lights were flying momentarily.  It was like you open and shut your eyes repeatedly while watching something moving along a certain loop.  One moment you could see them, the next they disappeared.  Then they appeared again with their intensity and hue changed.

Anyway, the glittering lights didn't show up for too long before they completely vanished out of sight.  "What is this?" we all asked.  They hovered at about six feet or so above ground.  They came out of nowhere and disappeared into air.  "Are they the fireflies as what the construction worker told us?" we wondered.

While waiting for them to show up again (which we crossed our fingers and hoped that they will), we found a place to squat down and aim our cameras at the positions they just appeared before.  Half an hour was elapsed.  We started to feel despaired.  "Are they coming back?"  Our detectors picked up no abnormal signals too.  Only our nerves picked up some bioelectric pulses from our lumped legs and backs to our brains reminding us of the aches, after posturing still for half an hour.

"That's it, I give up.." said Kenny as he was stretching his body up to his height.  At at the split of a second, a flock of green and yellow glimmers emerged from the green backdrop of a dark forest, like a shower of emeralds and diamonds.  Excited we were, and forgetting our lumped limbs; we stood up and busy pressing on our camera hoping to get the best shot.  In less than five seconds, the scene was back to the usual boring green again.  The lights have gone.

1. Here they come! The green flying lights suddenly surfaced, and then disappeared in darkness
2. KC chased the green lights into the bush; 3. Soon he felt very unwell. His team mate captured a mysterious green light above his head
4. These two green lights are the most prominent; they flew in a pair, and vanished in a pair too.

"Come on, lets move close to the statues" KC was leading the way.

In the bush, the view was somewhat different from day time.  The statues have blended in with the bush successfully.  But we managed to identify several prominent ones.  As we touched the statues, weird feeling arose.  It was like a thumping echo moving from far to near, right inside our ears.  Then it vibrated every nerve of our brains and shook our stomach.

At the same time, the feeling it gave was more sad, more intense and overwhelming than that of the day time.  The place was just like a graveyard of many dead corpses, hidden in the dark - deserted, and never properly buried.  All three of us felt the same.  It was a sheet of invisible force, repelling us to leave, for they didn't want anybody to sympathize their fate.  As if we were being watched by hostile eyes, we instinctively tried to find a place to hide ourselves in the bush.

We were in the bush, feeling very uncomfortable.  Stomach was getting more and more cramped.  Mosquitoes madly stunk on us.  Under the prolonged discomfort, we had no choice but to finally abort the operation, walking back to our car.  It was like a message sent to us straight to our heart: "leave us alone..!"  The littered statues, if they ever have spirits hosted, took their pride and perhaps not wanting anyone to see how miserable they are.  It is better to leave them alone unless we could have come for offering something to them.

Back to our car, we found ourselves full of mosquito bites all over our body despite mosquito repellent was well applied, and our boots stained with mud and clay.

Gate drove to the nearest patrol station, parked the car.  We went to the toilet and vomited...

1 & 2. We aborted the mission and retreated; 3. Mud cake! 4. How many mosquito bits can you see on Gate's arm? (Answer: 10+)

Answering Mysteries
1. What are those green color lights?  Are they fireflies?  Earth lights, or..
2. The feelings of being in the dumping ground are very different between daytime and nighttime.  The former is sad, and the latter is hostile and vengeful.  Why?

Come share your view with us!
