What Sign is that?
Perhaps not many Singaporeans know. There is a strange sign
in Punggol Beach similar to those of mysterious
Crop Circles in
Britain. Where exactly it is? It is "embossed" on the
western part of the inland beach as shown in the 2nd photo with an
arrow. What Sign is it? This is something we are
trying to analyze in this article.
The Sign is made of two concentric circles with their perimeters
approximately 3 feet apart. On the circles are other
straight lines cutting through the circles. Please see the
3rd and 4th photos. For the straight lines, they are
obviously tire marks of vehicles as you can see there are tire
patterns imprinted on the them. However, the mystery is on
the two big circles. The circles, at a first glance look a
little like the other tire marks. However, when you examine
them more closely, you will see there are differences. Here
we analyzed the characteristics of the mysterious circles:
(1) The groves of the circles are smooth without any tire
patterns. The groves are narrower and deeper than tire marks.
When you look into the interaction of the tire mark lines and the
circles, you will see that the tire marks are overlapping on the
circles. That means the circles had been there before the
vehicle ran through them.
(2) The gap before the two circles is merely 3 feet apart. We
all know that normal vehicles would have a wheel chassis of at
least 5 feet wide, unless we are talking about a Mazda 121 or
smaller, or a golf bugger. So it is unlikely that the
circles are made by a vehicle turning around.
(3) The circles are almost perfectly round. They look as if
a result of applying some machinery to draw the circles on the
sand. If they were created by hand, the circles would not be
so symmetrical and we don't see any traces of foot-prints near the
circles. They look just like a mark left over by a huge chop
stamping on the sand from air!

(2) The location of the Signs is in the 2nd half of the inland beach.

Who did make the circles?
While it still remains as a mystery on how the circles were made,
we try to expand the question a further out: who did that?
As for the Crop Circles, there are many possibilities. By
surveying the environment around Punggol Beach, we list out the
following possibilities to challenge your mind.
Possibility (1): marking made for some construction work. As
shown in the first photo, there are some civil construction works
going on around Punggol Beach. They are building bridges for
new MRT/LRT, new housing, new resort and golf club nearby.
Perhaps that area of the inland is chosen for their next schedule
construction site. Or may be we are building a new recycling
plant for our reverse osmosis NEWater there.
Possibility (2): marking for military actions, classified?
We saw a convoy of military lorries arrived near the circles.
The NS men came down and looked around the place for a while.
In less than 15 minutes, they drove off. Would it be a
routine patrol? a break taken by the NS men? or they
were carrying out some tasks related to the circles?
Possibilities (3) and (4): these are the wild imagined ones - UFO
landing or marking for ritual cults?
Possibility (5): a hoax. Just like what most people believe
for the Crop Circles, all these strange signs are man-made.
Some people might got inspired by the movie "Signs" and they want
one for our home ground too?
Possibility (6): navigation marking made by the Aliens. That
is the answer from the movie. Or may be it is real?

(1) The nearby areas of
Punggol Beach are under construction.
(2) & (3) A convoy of military lorries driven near the Signs.
(3) Punggol Beach is full of wonders. But be careful of the
bush. There is a green color snake as indicated by the
red-arrow.
There seems to be no easy answer, and the mysterious Signs still
remain as a mystery... Or may be you have a brilliant idea
to answer what that is??
