Tang-ki are Taoist spirit-mediums
possessed by deities and give advice to their clients about all
matters of importance. They may also perform exorcism and healing
and amazingly mutilate themselves to demonstrate supernatural
power. On the 7 December 2003, as it was festively celebrated as a
deity's birthday, Master Rolland who is the founder of Ong Siong
Tong (Taoism Religious Society Singapore) invited SPI to observe
their amazing Tangki performance. Together with a number of SPI
club members, we spent two evenings on investigating and
experiencing the incredible power of Tangki practices such as
spirit possession and Taoism power in stunt shows. This gave SPI a
great opportunity to find out about Tangki rituals in Singapore,
including their knowledge and power that not many people know. In
the days to come, we will expose and publish our findings
exclusively on SPI website progressively. |
